Word of the day: "portmanteau" - a term in which "two meanings [are] packed up into a single word" (Lewis Carroll) by blending; e.g. smog (smoke/fog), mimsy (miserable/flimsy). A "portmanteau" was a double-compartmented travelling bag. (via @RobGMacfarlane)
