This coin from 300–285 BC is inscribed ‘Queen Amastris’ – the first woman to ever be named on a coin. She held great power in Anatolia, bringing four cities together to create a new one, which she named Amastris (modern-day Amasra in Turkey) #IWD2019 (via @britishmuseum)
