English has no one-word equivalent of the Welsh word HIRAETH: a deep, nostalgic homesickness, it refers to a longing to return to something or somewhere now gone (or that perhaps never was), or else a grief felt when someone is lost, changing familiar circumstances beyond repair. (via @HaggardHawks)
