The Latin word for a cattle yoke was ‘jugum’. Its descendants include CONJUGAL (in the sense of a couple being joined together), SUBJUGATE (in the sense of putting someone under control), and the JUGULAR vein (which lies in the neck, below where a yoke would rest). (via @HaggardHawks)
