To stand in this blizzard of blossoms - to feel the onslaught of pinkness - is to face one of Japan’s most important moments of the year. • Sakura isn’t just a spectacle, it is the embodiment of the Shinto ideals of hope and renewal… and perhaps most significant of all, impermanence. • The cherry blossoms last one brief week every year, as transient as life and health.
